Kingfish Karuvadu Varuval

IngredientsQuantity
Dried king fish 1 Cup
Finely chopped onions 1 1/2 big
Finely chopped Garlic 8 pods
Red Chilli powder 2 tsp
Turmeric Powder a pinch
Salt to taste
Curry leaves
Oil 2 tbsp
Fennel Seeds 1 tbsp
  • Wash dried fish in warm water, rub it nicely several times to get rid of all the salt and chop into tiny bits.
  • Heat oil in a heavy bottom kadai or non-stick pan.
  • Season the fennel seeds.
  • Add Curry leaves, Chopped Garlic and chopped onions to fry.
  • Saute it well till it turns translucent then add the salt and red chilli powder.
  • Now add the cleaned dried kingfish, salt and stir it well with the onions.
  • Add little bit (2 tbsp) of hot water and cook in the medium flame, fry it gently till the water evaporates.
  • The cooked gravy should be in thick texture.
  • Dry fish gravy is ready to serve.
